There is no chair… no couch… and no box of tissues placed discretely on the table. Just one on one slightly more anonymous exchange from me to you, in your own home online or via email exchange.
I have always believed ‘talk’ work needed to be done face to face however; there are some real benefits to this kind of work online which surfaced during the Covid pandemic and has worked remarkably well since.
Some have more time to finally do the work after hours, some feel like their relationships are being cracked wide open, yet there is no-one there to facilitate the dynamic within the closed home environment and this allows me to be right there with you. Relationships are being dissected, broken down, and self-discovery is unavoidable. The last 5yrs have been a time of real awakening within, it is a time to now utilise our core strength in whichever way we can and come to peace with our truths more than ever before.
Some people prefer zoom sessions or writing, emailing and texting, it is cost effective and can be done out of traditional working hours or when you simply have a chance. It allows you to take the time with what you want to say, either when things are especially difficult for you or, when your mind feels more clear and you are able to articulate it. Painful thoughts and feelings can often get stuck in the mind and the body which can cause stress, anxiety and depression. Some people find expressing themselves through writing easier than talking to someone face-to-face. Writing can be extremely cathartic and often can come with a sense of release or letting go. It also allows feedback within a quicker time frame when you are dealing with something, so that your thoughts don’t have to wait for that hour per week. These therapeutic responses can be alot to take in, this way you have the history to reference anytime. This kind of validation and insight can be extremely powerful. This kind of work can really benefit those whose instinct is to hibernate and sink deeper, instead of reaching out.
